Laura Jones

Leeds/Bristol based artist and photographer.

I graduated university in 2019 where I studied Fine Art. I use portrait photography as a tool to explore the topic of identity. I cohesively captured portraits of people using both digital and analogue photography and use them as a part of a wider series.

Some of my approaches to photography are very contrived, my series’ such as Uniform and Mimicry all depict young people that I have directed to do certain actions or wear items of clothing to further express my concepts. Some of my influences include feminist essays, books and independent films which help me to reflect on societal issues that become the basis of my works.

More recently I have been commissioned to photograph bands, other working artists, and commercial spaces.

All photographs featured on my website are taken either using a Canon DSLR, or Bronica medium format film camera.
